The truck was actually pretty complete in the sheet metal department and I have
the original instrument cluster but that is it.
Here are the pictures and the story of my project.
The truck sat out at my parents farm for most of the summer because I wasn't sure where to start. I had been doing body and
paint work on a friends '39 sedan and was still in the thought process.
I drew a picture of a stock pickup to get a an idea of where to start, and then I drew my vision. I had the stock grille but it was ugly, So I
drew a early '30's grille. I had a few '40 Ford models laying around so I thought I would do a mock up model, since the cab is similar
and the box & rear fenders are the same. Try to Chop & Section a 1/24 scale model accurately and the real job will seem pretty easy. I
found a '34 Ford pickup in my model collection and kit-bashed the Grille assembly. Lookin' Good already, Little did I know what would
happen over the next few weeks, As fate would have it, a '34 Ford pickup grille shell walked into my life.

At our weekly Friday evening Therapy session I was showing the guys my drawing and talking about my plans and I said I am not
sure what I will use for a grille, when Denny Van Zante said "Well I just bought a couple of '34 pickup grilles and a hood today" On
Saturday I went over to work on Denny's '39 Sedan and looked at the grille...SOLD!!! The grille shell was in awesome shape. Just the
right amount of patina. It Looks Pretty Darn Good. I finally brought the truck home and decided to get to work.

My wife Angela thinks I'm insane but she humors me anyway. Jenna is a couple months shy of being 3 years old and she wants
check things out and try to help. I told my wife that I bought here a Kid sized welding helmet for her up coming birthday, that didn't go
over well. Jenna like to sit in it and pretend to drive, and she is full of what and why questions. That really made this project a lot more
fun. We have a lot of good memories of sitting in the cab and going here and there, then she asked "When can we really go
somewhere, dad ?" My reply was maybe next summer. Little did I know...that would be two years ago.
Jenna' s first Hot Rod for here 1st
birthday.
Jenna's Hot Rod Wagon has
been on the front page of our
local paper, in the Good-Guys
Gazette , and a few other
publications. This will be the
last year she fits in it . So
maybe I need to make plans
for a Jr Dragster?
